{7qt} life lately

// Commissions are made if you purchase using my links. Thanks for your support //

1. I blogged! I blogged!
When was the last time I wrote a 7 quick takes post? I do not even remember.
For my first take ~ a pregnancy update.

I am now 31 weeks + 2 days. My prediction is that I won't make it to my due date.
-- first because this is my 7th.
-- second because I have gestational diabetes and  Rose will probably be a big baby.

My sugars are not super out of control. My fasting BG are between 95-101. My postprandial BG 1 hour are all below 125. I am actually losing weight (per my home scale). I am curious what my weight will be next week when I go to the office. I will be 32 weeks then and will start my weekly NSTs.

The fatigue is crazy for this pregnancy. I long to sit or put my feet up. I cannot stand for long periods of time. I don't even carry Nash for a long time either. He sits on my lap and cuddles with me on the couch. He loves to bounce off of my belly. It is not a comfortable game.

2. Are you done with your Christmas shopping?
I am actually >50% done. Because of the pandemic and lack of traveling and extra curricular activities with the children, I prepped their list waaaaay before Thanksgiving. I shopped quite a bit during  Thanksgiving week. It was insane seeing Black Friday deals the day before Thanksgiving. I did most of the shopping last week than what I did on Cyber Monday.

Some notable sales ~ Old Navy currently has 25% off sale. (It was 50% off last week!)
Target ~ where I bought of the children's toys ~ if you're part of the Target circle, there's 10% off on your online order. I got toys that were still full priced. I have been stalking them since Thanksgiving week and they did not put them on sale. Not even during Cyber Monday. When I saw the extra 10% off, I used it right away!

I am sponsoring a book for the twelve days of Christmas Book giveaway that's running live right now on Instagram. Be sure to enter and win all those great books.

4. We survived the first week of e-Learning.
I say WE, but truly, it's Derrick and the children survived it! Props for my husband who is now sharing the library (his work area) with our first grader. I give props to the teachers as well for adjusting to this new way of teaching. My third grader thrives with the schedule. She said it is less stressful this second go-round compared to the quarantine months when I was their teacher.

5. Prayer request
-- Baby Agnes as she recovers from spinal surgery
-- Beckett and his family
-- Britt (Agnes' mom) who will start chemo soon
-- Safety and protection against covid.
-- Frontline workers, those in the ICUs, ERs, urgent cares.

6. Work
We are transitioning to more virtual visits again. It is not quite the same as the shutdown of clinics back in April and May. But most of my returns will be virtual appts to decrease foot traffic in clinic.

I am trying my best to be as careful as I can be at work.
I go back to my office where I am alone to eat my lunch.
I don't drink my water in the work area where other docs and learners are present.
I wear eye protection which is recommended but not mandatory in our health system (unless treating covid pts of course).
I was advised by my OB to exclude myself from direct patient care with someone with covid. But if I have to, she said I should  do the full she-bang and garb up, suit up, N95 masks, face shield and all.

Being a neurologist and a consultant, I am not really at the front lines.  Our team does not have a primary service at the hospital either. So when I cover a weekend at 34 weeks, if there's a covid pending or covid positive patient, I can do a provider-to-provider consult.

7. Never in a million years would I see myself selling makeup. But here I am!
I became a BC consultant this week. I was introduced to Beautycounter by my friend, Stephanie. She sent me an eye shadow palette that I fell in love with. The quality of the pigments is amazing! Every time  there's a sale, I grab a few more items.

Why did I do it?
First the discount! I won't lie. I love a good discount as a consultant. I already like the brand and its mission. The products are of good quality (and clean!)
Second Stephanie. She's a great mentor.
Third I am already sharing BC on my ig account. Stephanie was right.  I might as well share my OWN link.

From the November sale, I got the following items (and I cannot wait to share them with y'all):
-skin twin concealer
-conditioning lipstick
-luminous lids cream

I have already shared:
Golden hour all-in-one palette - here's the IG Reels
Eye shadow palette STATEMENT - another IG reel
Eye shadow palette CLASSIC - IGTV

Happy Friday, friends! Thanks for reading.

let's lighten things up

 A little stir crazy here.
There is no routine.
There is no norm.

1.  Since stores have closed, there's lots of online sales going on. Like Old Navy with its 50% off. We may not be able to celebrate Easter Sunday with our parish. But we will dress up and celebrate at home.

My picks are below.
My dress
Girls Dress
Boys polo shirt
Baby's

2.  We gave in  to Disney+
I signed up today. We are a newbie Disney+ family.
We are on our second movie. Aladdin first... Now the Lion King.  My husband said that with Frozen II on repeat, we will get our money's worth for the subscription. Any suggestions for movie or show marathons? Do you have Disney+? What is your favorite thing about it?

3. My favorite Tarte concealer is on sale today. Only $13.50. That's an awesome price. It's great to stock up now.  Here are my faves for the next few days of the 21 days of beauty sale.

Lipstick Queen 3/24 Tuesday
Clinique Blended Face Powder and brush 3/26 Thursday
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair moisturizer 3/27 Friday
Clinique Mascara 3/30 Monday

4.  I have been doing well with anxiety but being cooped up inside the house with a change in our routine got me all stir-crazy.
Ways I would like to focus more on God and others and let go of the worrying.
~livestream Mass
~doodle (Scripture...  and also with Mo Willems and my kids)
~listen to my audiobooks.
~ listen to podcasts for continuing medical education (not the ongoing pandemic, but neurology)
~use my big camera more.
~pray
~ good ole exercise. I haven't been moving much being stuck inside the home and doing school from home.

5. Speaking of audiobooks, I finished my first Flavia de Luce mystery. I started with the second book since the first one is unavailable from our public library. I borrowed the first Maisie Dobbs mystery. I could not get into it as much as Flavia. I am going to keep giving it a try.

We have Stuart Little and Matilda pending. Matilda is read by Kate Winslet. I am very excited!

6. If you are in the Indy area, consider donating your stash of N95 if you have any! If you know of construction companies, painters etc who may have N95 respirators, please send them my way disiscloset(at)gmail(dot)com. Let's protect our healthcare workers.

7. Sending y'all virtual hugs since gathering right now is illegal.
I saw this on my sister's stories. Thanks Clay Bennett of Chattanooga Press for this funny cartoon.
These next two weeks are critical. Please stay home. Let's change the rise of cases from exponential growth to linear.

what i wore sunday + life lately

1. This outfit
I love a good chambray. Make it a shirtdress then it's definitely a win! I scored this one from Draper James and it's 100% cotton.

2. Who has seen Frozen II? Shhhh. Do not tell my children. I like the original better. I probably just need to watch (and watch and watch) it and then the songs will get ingrained in my brain and I will be brainwashed. Having said that, I still like the sequel and I highly recommend it.

3. Why watch a movie on opening weekend?
Anything for your children, right? We took our birthday girl and her friends to the movies. I am sharing  birthday party photos here on the blog tomorrow and on instagram. Be sure to come back.

4. I am consistently wearing this garmin steps tracker.   I received it after signing up on a research study. For somebody who has  avoided the fitbit for a decade (because I like my swatch watches and large MK watches), the garmin vivo fit 4 is good for entry level  activity tracker.  It covers the basics (steps + distance + watch + dates + timer + stopwatch + calories). There is no HR tracker.

5. Let's talk football.
Hubs' team SF 49ers are killing it. It is their time. They have been awful for the past few seasons. They had that one great year in 2012 but then did not make it to the Superbowl.
I have been thinking about Tua Tagovailoa, the QB of my fave Bama Roll Tide.  A hip dislocation is a serious injury. He underwent surgery and is recovering. It will be a long rehab...

happy monday, mom of 5

on me:
bangles, from my grandma

on Lucy:

Louis Vuitton, Neverfull MM, Damier ebene with Rose ballerine interior

^she's way too close to these plants. It's freaking me out. I am 92.8% certain there's poison ivy somewhere there. ^

Mondays are a shock to the system. I definitely received lots of presents.

I cleaned up a puddle of urine as soon as I woke up. Somebody did not make it to the toilet because he refused to use his legs properly. He has a bruised knee and was scooting around the house on his bottom.

with so much frustration, I dug around boxes and looked for a shirt and pair of shorts. I found the blue Mother Mary shirt from my good friend, Sr. Solanus. I put it on and it was way too tight on the chest area. I had to find a back-up top. ok tunic it is....

I changed 3 children, sadly with not enough patience since I raised my voice... I chased baby D4 - she thought it was a game of "let baby cry while momma is changing me."

I fed baby then burped him. Baby burped, and up he regurgitated, give or take, an oz of milk. There's trickle of milk on my tunic all the way down to my left leg. I was back to the boxes to find another loose fitting shirt.

life lately

life lately via seven quick takes.
ready?
set.
go!

1. my last week of fmla
12 weeks went by fast, didn't it? For me, it sure did. My Lucy turns 12 weeks today which means I am going back to work next week. Prayers please. My anxiety is kicking in.  I hate the stress of getting out of the house in the morning. That's where most of my anxiety lies. I hate being late. (who likes being late?) I am a night owl so I need to tell myself every single night to shut down and relax and go to sleep. I need at least 6.5-7 hours of sleep. I can function with less than that but i am proned to hunger, headaches, bad mood etc.  if I only get 6 hours (or less) night after night after night.

2. Bastian is sick (was)
written Tuesday: Would you believe me that this was the first time Sebastian received a prescription for an antibiotic? The covering pediatrician was surprised that he is 2 years old and never had an antibiotic. True, he has had colds, fevers and cough. His fevers usually proclaim their source though. His fevers also go away within 48 hours. So when I think about taking him in, he gets better.

This week though was a different story. His fever lingered for over 48 hours. He lost his appetite. It broke my heart to see him cry.

update Thursday: Thanks for the prayers -- he is back to his happy self. He is catching up with food too :)

3. nyfw
If I am not a mama of 4, I think I will do something in the fashion industry. Just so I could go to New York Fashion Week. I followed all these bloggers on their snapchat and "enjoyed" the fashion shows.

4. snapchat
Speaking of snapchat, I am so addicted. I have been trying to convince my mom to download the app... (are you reading this, mom?) There's tons of videos of the children there...

Like this ONE!

(My username is disisd!) add ME.

5. extracurricular activities
My eldest is busy this fall with extracurricular activities.
He has soccer until end of October. But his team lost their first 2 games though. :(
He also joined the BSA. They went to a rocket launch this past weekend. He enjoyed shooting BB guns but missed the archery station because he had to go to his soccer match.
His school offers a once a week drumming class... it's for K-2nd grade. It's basic rhythm and beats and he's enjoying it.

6. working out
hubs and I are doing a second round of the 21 day fix. I am thinking of starting p90x3, come first of the month. Any of my readers p90x3 grads? any tips?

we went to a sporting goods store this past weekend to get heavier weights. Not boasting or anything but I am not lifting mere 3-5 lbs anymore.. I am going up there folks! haha, more like going to 8-10 lbs. This means whether hubs like it or not he has to go up as well bec I am claiming his weights.

we got a Pull up bar - something I have been asking hubs to get me for years. That's one of my goals. I want to perform a real pull up.

while browsing, we found the clearance rack. Daniel got a cute Pacers hoodie and I found these under armour tights for $12. They are girls size. I also found these shorts (both are under $12!) high five!

nike pro compression shorts for girls
under armour compression shorts

I also got the Champion high support sports bra in bright orange (less than $12!)
and these  cute Reebok pink ones.

7.  video I am sharing
(again from my snapchat addiction)

Happy Friday!!!
