{7qt} prayers and the going-ons on social media

// Commissions are made if you purchase using my links. Thanks for your support //

1. Divine Mercy Chaplet
I was invited by  @mikesibal to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3p PST/6pEST. What a powerful prayer specially today. Mike messaged me last minute and I felt it was the prompting of the Holy Spirit. This week has been out of sorts and prayer is much needed!
You can check out the live here. Just ignore that you can only see half my face and that I was super magnified when I came into view. There was a glitch and I was zoomed in on the live but it looked fine on my end. (apparently not).
Make sure you get to the end because there's a treat. Nash made a cameo.

2. Geriatic pregnancy
My age is catching up on me. I have high BPs on and off since 20 weeks but because of stress and yes third trimester, they are persistently high. Thankfully, my labs are fine. I have no swelling, cramping, contractions, abdominal pain, headaches or vision changes. Those are all signs of pre-eclampsia - a life threatening pregnancy complication for both mother and baby. Praise God I don't have those symptoms. Now if you could  please join me in praying that I keep the baby cooking for at least 4 more weeks to make it to full term.

3. More prayer request
Please pray for my aunt who suffered a brainstem stroke. Please pray for my grandma and my cousin who are taking care of her. My grandma is not allowed in the hospital because of strict covid rules. She  is worrying at home, thinking of her child. :( If I am in distress thinking and praying for my aunt, I cannot imagine being a mom feeling so helpless and cannot do anything for her child.

Be A Heart Christmas PJs are here! If you do priority shipping, they will arrive Christmas Eve (if USPS cooperates).  Use disisd10 for 10% off new customers.

5. Private group about beauty and skincare
So as not to overwhelm instagram (which I still do anyway) with all things clean beauty and skincare, I made a private FB group. If you'd like to join, please send a request here.

One of the great partnerships I am proud to share this year is spreading the word about OSV kids magazine. OSV sent us a goodie bag and I made an "unboxing" video to share the books and items we received.  You can watch it here.

7. Christmas Octave
For the Christmas Octave, I have planned  an Oprah-like "my favorites" giveaway. Dates are 12/27 - in honor of the Holy Family until 1/1/2021 the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. That's 6 days of gift-giving so be sure to check out instagram for items that may interest you.  I hope to get everything mailed so that winners can receive their winnings by Jan 6th, Epiphany.
Think makeup
Something for the family
Something useful
Something sparkly
Something Marian

Happy start of the weekend, friends. May you find peace and rest this weekend. Please pray for me! I am praying for you.

blog-versary!

happy 10 years old, disisd.
This blog started as d-isis. since it was just me and hubs... then once we have added more and more munchkins, it just made sense to change this to disisd. the D at the end is because of the D-crew.

To celebrate a decade of being a blogger, I am giving away a few of my favorite things. A couple are for winter months.

Giveaway ends in 10 days so make sure you tell your friends, your friends' friends and enter! Thanks for reading my blog and growing old with disisd.

Mirrored sunglasses - y'all know I love a cute pair of sunglasses. I am giving away mirrored sunglasses in the classic aviator style - perfect combo!

It's still summer but I am a sucker for sales/clearance finds. I got this shearling vest in charcoal. The beige is too good to pass up. I am giving it away to a reader. Maybe it will be you.

Another winter treasure ~ you'd be ready once the autumn and winter chills arrive. You will be cozy and warm with your new blanket scarf! {Sorry I just went to look for a stock photo and they are all sold out... I will update this with a picture of the actual scarf I have bought}

I love to doodle. Although I type/blog, I still enjoy a good planner with lots and lots of cute markers and pens. I use these everyday on my planner and when jotting down Scripture, to-do lists, meal preps. Name it.

Lastly, I am sharing a canvas print of the Morning Offering Prayer. we have this at our home. I made this digitally and would like to send a reader an 8 x 10 canvas print of this prayer.

summer update + a giveaway! {7qt}

1. Daniel finished his weeklong morning baseball camp.

He asked: is Baseball camp over?
Me: yes
D: good...
Me: how come? you did not enjoy it?
D: it's a lot of running. I get tired.

The afternoon  camp was "DIY backyard party." They had summer olympics on Monday; Fairy garden tea party on Tuesday; Pajama/camp night party on Wednesday; Luau on Thursday. He missed the summer olympics party because he mistakenly went to robotics and followed the 5th graders. His favorite party was the Luau. They had an inflatable pool and went "swimming." they also drank pina coladas.

^His least favorite position

2. Swimming lessons are going well for the older three. Isabel is getting better with his bobs with almost* full exhalation when underwater and then inhalation when above water. They were ready to advance her to the next level yesterday but she said she did not want to. When asked why: she likes her current teacher and if she advances to the next level, she does not want to leave her. awwwww...

Daniel is getting better with his floats and glides and his kicking.
Bastian has made the greatest improvement. First class was horrible with lots of crying, "I don't want to go to the water" etc. etc. Now I only ask him once and he goes to the edge of the pool and approaches his group.

It's sad for Lucy to watch them. She wants to join and jump into the pool. But for children younger than 2, a parent must swim with them. Derrick and I did not want to do that this year. poor Lucy.

3. some finds from my recent ASOS haul:

Off the shoulder mini dress with lace hem
Ruffle Flute sleeve top
Curved hem Boyfriend Tee

4. I enjoy making the girls wear matching dresses. Here are a few cute ones from Old Navy.

5. I am so behind on my videos... but isabel had her dance recital 2 weekends ago. I finally uploaded her dance number here.

6. I finished the 11th season of BONES. While waiting for season 12 at the library, I decided to try Sleepy Hollow.  my take after two episodes down --- I am not enjoying it. I want to give it a chance. Maybe it will be more interesting and LESS creepy and scary? but so far, it's only making me more scared.

I am looking for recommendations for TV series... please, do share!

7. Finally... a giveaway!
A couple of years ago, I watched God's not Dead. I was surprised that the acting was fine. Sometimes Christian movies can have "bad acting." This one was not bad at all.  I borrowed God's Not Dead 2. It's not as great as the first one but it did lead me to get this book which I am liking very much.

If you like criminal cases type of TV series or books -- like BONES or CSI or Law and Order, you will like this book. It was written by a homicide detective whose expertise is solving cold cases.  He started as an atheist --wanting to prove/disprove the Gospel accounts. He used "forensic statement analysis" to figure out if witnesses were/are telling the truth -- if Jesus is truly God who resurrected from the dead.

So for this giveaway -- you can win a copy of Cold Case Christianity or  2 value pack of God's Not Dead and God's not Dead 2!

Day trip to Baguio {a giveaway!}

 The travel photo diary continues.

We went to a 3 day car trip to northern Luzon. My hometown is in the big island Luzon. The northernmost part of Luzon I have ever been was Vigan City (post to come). On our way back down, we stopped by Baguio City.

Baguio City is called the summer capital of the Philippines. It's a city on a plateau (up in the mountains). Temps dipped down to the high 50s low 60s. That feels good in the Philippines.

we went shopping for treats, veggies and fruit. We also stopped by Burnham Park. It was very crowded because it was a Sunday. Baguio city, I heard, is pretty crowded now no matter what day. But weekends are the worst... and unfortunately, not as clean as I remember.

 ^look at all the veggies!

Glad we stopped by the scenic lookout.
That's the Baguio City I remember as I child. The view, the mountains, all so green and clean.

^ manmade pond at Burham Park

^fresh fruits for sale

Reason for going out of order on my travel diary is this GIVEAWAY!!!
I thank my friend and colleague, Noelle for sponsoring this giveaway. She is giving away a Carly dress (one I am wearing above). I chose this dress because it's comfy during pregnancy. Perk -- it is nonmaternity! So I can still wear it postpartum.

Enter the rafflecopter below. You have until midnight March 16th to enter. Spread the word.  I hope you win.

Christmas giveaway

Backstory:
I was at the cathedral shop in Philly when I found a mom's prayer book.... I got one for myself and then (must be the Holy spirit prodding my heart)  I thought of sharing a copy of the book to one of my readers --- my blog friends!

That started a cascade of events.

Why not share the things I love to all of you? To show my appreciation and thanks for supporting this blog, reading it, commenting and just being a blog friend, I am hosting a small giveaway.

You all have seen this blanket scarf. I love love love blanket scarves.

I am giving away the SAME scarf to one of my readers. Brooke and Erica kindly gave us a code to enjoy their products now. DISISD20 is a 20% off code any order that you can use now until January 10th (valid for 30 days so better use it).

The third and last thing I'm giving away is a 5x7 pretty handlettered print by HatchPrints. It's take your pick! on the comments below, let me know which print you'd like to win if you get selected for this item.

Here's one that I love, love, love!

These are not huge giveaways or Oprah like type of gifts. I just love sharing items that I love. My hubs, kids and family know me well that my love language is gift giving :)

So this is how it works. There will be three winners. One winner for each item:

Blanket scarf
prayer book (see photo above)
handlettered print.

***** updated rules!

Comment below and rank the items. Choice #1 as your first choice -- Choice #2 as second choice and so on. you don't have to rank all 3 if you don't like one of them (or two of them).

The rules remind me of residency match!
You interviewed to all three.
You rank them based on your preference. If you don't want one or two of them, don't rank them.
If choice #1 is matched with a winner, you have another chance for your second choice and so on.

Confusing I know.

A participant can only win once! (just like in residency matching)

If you have any questions, just drop me an email or comment below!

Good luck! I hope you win!

Lucy updates + giveaway!

disclaimer: this post is a collaboration post. I assure you, I won't place info here that I don't support or I don't use myself (or my children).

ok read on.. you would not want to miss some Lucy updates.

Ms. Lucy is as sweet as ever! She looks like a doll. She gives everybody joy with her giggles!

Let me be sentimental here. I may not be the perfect wife or perfect mom. But when I see those chunky rolls and thighs and big buddha belly, I swell with pride and joy! I am doing something right!

She got another viral URI at 5 mos. Snotty nose, cough.... crusty eyes! poor little one. In the midst of the snottiness, she still gives me smiles when I take photos of her.

I do not have stats for you at 5 months (there is no Well child check and she is caught up with her immunizations). I know that she is well passed doubling her birth weight. She was 1/2 lb shy a month ago from achieving that milestone.

She loves to sleep. She lets me and hubs enjoy fridates.  She is such a good, nonfussy baby that she can sleep with a soiled diaper (whaaa???!) that won't fly with any of my other kids.

As much as she enjoys being an only child getting 4-6hours of sleep without her sibs, she lights up when she hears them play or talk. She is loving being the 4th baby. She watches them play wii. She listens to Daniel read a book. She loves being held by Sebastian. She enjoys Isabel's singing.

On her first Thanksgiving, she also wore her soft soles mocs c/o Freshly Picked. They are so cute and made of good quality leather. It might be more than what you are willing to spend on a pair of baby mocs. but if you plan on having more babies, these are well-made that they are perfect hand-me-downs!

One lucky reader will win a pair of cute soft sole mocs. Follow the instructions below and I hope you win!  Giveaway runs for two weeks. Open to US readers, only. Sorry international friends..... :(

tunic season + random giveaway {wiws}

pink links are affiliate links... but this post is not sponsored. giveaway is from the bottom of my heart and pocketbook...

Not really sure if this is a tunic... but it's certainly long enough to be one. I bought this top on clearance last spring while pregnant with Lucy. I went 2 sizes up to accommodate the belly. It did not work. I tried it on and it was unflattering.

After giving birth, it's hot and humid so it went unworn... Until this weekend and it's low 60s and cloudy here in the midwest. Though it's longsleeves it's still lightweight. The sleeves can be rolled up to the elbows. I like that.

Since it's huge, I paired it with a belt (old one from Old Navy)

For tunic options: this one is under $30 and on sale.
this one under $50
and another one under $60

I will let you spot something not intentionally planned for this outfit... if you spot it, enter the raffle below. I am doing this random giveaway. Scroll all the way to the bottom  and leave your answer on the rafflecopter. There is a box there that will prompt you with your answer. The winner gets a starbucks gift card!

By the time I saw  the special item -- I was done posing....  forget it, I told my photographer. let's keep it in the photos.

(another clue: I did not even get to use this special item)

Let's also pause for a few minutes... and jump for joy. My wedding and anniversary band can fit my puffy ring finger again! yippeee! The bands are still tight and take a lot of wiggling to take out. But let's give it a day and see..... I cannot wear my engagement ring yet.  That one is even smaller in size.

Words from our pastor's homily to reflect on:

.... the idea of the Church being an unbroken chain reaching back throughout salvation history, we might ask, “If all of us are links in the chain, which link is Jesus? Is Jesus the first link? Perhaps the last link?” The answer is, “Jesus is every link; Jesus is the entire chain.” When we are baptized, we become one with Jesus, and He makes each one of our lives His own.

And if you follow me on snapchat (username: disisd); you will find the lovely choir singing in French for our French Mass.

if it's pink, it's a link.. I linked similar items for you!
