Calle Crisologo, Vigan City {photo diary}

My photo diary from the Philippines trip continues... It's taking weeks and weeks to post all photos but we will get there.  next stop: Vigan City in Ilocos Sur.
The >100 year old houses remained intact because this city was spared by the Japanese soldiers during WWII.
Calle Crisologo is a must stop if you visit Vigan.

Pangasinan and La Union {photo diary}

Driving north to La Union and Pangasinan is easier now with the North Luzon Express way expansion. What took 4 hours to go to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary Manaog only too 2.5 hours or so.

The children loved the breeze up the mountain. They ran around. It was not as humid up there.

Here's the Our Lady of Rosary of Manaoag with baby Jesus
We went to Mass at 9a, ate breakfast, got some souvenirs.... then headed north.

We did not get to swim that day but saw a beautiful sunset. It's so relaxing watching the waves reach the beach over and over. Lucy was not excited {see video below} because I just took her straight to the water. no acclimating at all.

Here's Sebastian jetlagged and woke up at 3:30a asking for food.

Day trip to Baguio {a giveaway!}

 The travel photo diary continues.

We went to a 3 day car trip to northern Luzon. My hometown is in the big island Luzon. The northernmost part of Luzon I have ever been was Vigan City (post to come). On our way back down, we stopped by Baguio City.

Baguio City is called the summer capital of the Philippines. It's a city on a plateau (up in the mountains). Temps dipped down to the high 50s low 60s. That feels good in the Philippines.

we went shopping for treats, veggies and fruit. We also stopped by Burnham Park. It was very crowded because it was a Sunday. Baguio city, I heard, is pretty crowded now no matter what day. But weekends are the worst... and unfortunately, not as clean as I remember.

 ^look at all the veggies!

Glad we stopped by the scenic lookout.
That's the Baguio City I remember as I child. The view, the mountains, all so green and clean.

Reason for going out of order on my travel diary is this GIVEAWAY!!!
I thank my friend and colleague, Noelle for sponsoring this giveaway. She is giving away a Carly dress (one I am wearing above). I chose this dress because it's comfy during pregnancy. Perk -- it is nonmaternity! So I can still wear it postpartum.

interns no more {travel diary}

 My friends A and S and I had a much-needed reunion in ATL.  These are my very good friends from Pediatric residency. We were all  interns at the county hospital newborn nursery and pediatric ward. We spent every 4th night call nights at the hospital. We have shared ER shifts. We have shared rooms in the peds retreat.

when i took us to the wrong church {day 2 photo diary}

Day 2 of our Spring break was our first full day in Orlando.
We went to the resort pool. The water was so cold.  Daniel enjoyed the hot tub more than anything. Lucy and Lola just hung out by the poolside getting their tan (not).

Now here's an obligatory palm tree + sky shot...
when in Florida, eh?
Thanks again to my inlaws for letting us use their timeshare points. The children loved the spaceous 2bedroom condo.

Last day in Philly {photo diary}

The conference did not offer breakfast or morning coffee (gasp!)
A block from our hotel is a starbucks (just across the street from the Christmas village/LOVE park). We stopped by there twice. I got my usual soy vanilla no-foam latte.
on this last morning in Philly, I also grabbed oatmeal.

I ate the oatmeal in the courtyard inside city hall. The Philadelphia city hall is the largest mucinipal building in the country (I believe it!). The architecture is beautiful and fancy.

As evidence by these instagram shots.

Where we ate:
I had lunch with my coworkers. we went to a pho place a block away from the convention center. It is at the edge of Chinatown.  it was good! again the prices are reasonable and similar to the ones here in town.

For snack: hubs got me a super yummy philly pretzel! It got cold by the time I ate it but it was still soft. I blame the butter.

Dinnertime - we were already at the airport at this point.
airport food is nothing fancy.

Traveling home
it's great to come back home. Several passengers praised Lucy since she was a quiet baby who just nuzzled and cuddled with me.  There were no delays on our flights. yippee.

Where we ate:

Lunch- Thai place. Another awesome choice. I had the chicken panang curry. Hubs had his usual Pad Thai. We walked around ChinaTown and found this bubble tea place.

Dinner at the Shabushabu --- so so good. i was sweating but I did not care. I had the spicy broth. Hubs had the pork broth. We ordered lobster balls (too salty for me. not a surprise), thinly-sliced beef, Chinese spinach, cabbage, more beef, shrimp balls and rice noodles. I had too much hoisin sauce and hot chili -- as if the spicy broth is not enough.

Next to the shabushabu/hotpot place is another bubble tea place! I could not say no!

Sightseeing:
Hubs went to the historic district to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Sweet Lucy napped in the stroller the entire time. Hubs being a history buff enjoyed his afternoon. I spent another day in conference learning about epilepsy.
