We don't have a family motto per-se but our word for the summer was TEAMWORK.
I noticed that I used this word quite a bit when venturing out and running errands will all five kids and I was the only adult.

Those trips can get overwhelming. Before leaving the house or while buckling in the car, I talk to the older kids and tell them that we all needed to work as a team so that we can all enjoy outings like that. I make eye contact to each of them and ask them of their help.

The children enjoyed trips to the mall or walks to the library. I let them have little treats -  like getting pretzels before going home or claim jelly beans as prizes for their summer reading points. They know I let them have  those treats because we went out as a team. They helped me watch one another. They helped carry their book bag. They pushed the stroller. They handed paper towels to their younger sibs after a potty break.

When asked how our summer break was, I honestly answer that "it went by so fast." This summer was more fun that last year. Probably because I do not have a newborn this summer. We all know how schedules are ruled by newborns.

Summer started with my birthday. Then my husband's was mid July/mid-summer. Today, we celebrate my sister. Happy birthday, little sis. Have a blessed day and wonderful year! xoxo
