Block Heel Bootie ~ Madewell
Belt Bag ~ Madewell
Shirt dress ~ local boutique
Mac Viva Glam lipstick
I held out for the longest time with the belt bag. It reminds me so much of a fanny pack. I am not into fanny packs. Sorry y'all who love them.
The difference with the belt bag vs a fanny pack is that the former has a detachable belt! It can be worn alone without the bag.
Since I was not sure with the trend and functionality, I did not want to commit and purchase a super expensive one. Think Gucci, YSL or Prada. Nope!
Once Madewell had their amazing 40% off sale recently, this belt bag went down (all the way down!) to $34! It's a great price for real leather and something neutral that can go with lots of outfits.
Shirt dresses can be a big baggy without cinching at the waist. It felt like the right time to give in to the trend and wear my belt bag with the shirt dress. I wore it selling popcorn with my scouts. It was perfect don't you think? Putting away cash like a real seller with a fanny pack. Those folks with fanny packs were all over the marketplaces in the Philippines. They either had a fanny pack or their apron with very deep pockets. I felt like I truly wore an outfit with a purpose.
My belt bag is also a great substitute to a small crossbody. This style I own only have room for the essentials. I was able to fit my thin zipped card case, a lip gloss, my lipstick, car key (not keys) and my iPhone Xs with the loopy case. It was already bulging when I had to stuff the phone inside. Otherwise to keep the shape of the belt bag intact, I carried my phone separately.
In terms of breastfeeding, I just pushed the bag all the way to the back so I can carry and nurse the baby. I also place the bag to my side instead of right in front of me. I look "frumpier" with it in front. Although, I look at the photos above and I still look frumpy no matter what.
This reminds me that I haven't done a "what's in my bag" video or post in awhile. It will be fun to do that sometime. It's also a great way to clean and purge items that I put from one bag to another. I do change my bags a lot!
How about you? Did you give in to the belt bag trend yet?
What trend did you hold off for the longest time and then finally gave in?

I was hesitant about belt bags at first as well. Now I have two. A dressy one and a more casual one. I love them for their practicality when I don’t need a giant purse and want my hands free. You look adorable. I love your striped dress and the tan accessories look great with it.

Two! That’s awesome! If I find another one for a great price and quality, I’ll get it. Maybe one in red??
DeleteI like the belt bag trend on others but it's definitely not for me! this one looks so cute with your striped dress though and it's nice it was such a practical choice for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link up!

Fashion show? That’s great!
DeleteI hope I get invited to one ;)
I think it looks really cute on you! I have not hopped on that wagon yet! Not sure I want to add any attention to my belly area.

That’s what I don’t like about the belt bag. Since not a lot of people use them, the attention goes straight to the belly. I use it on my high waist -
DeleteThe smallest part of my trunk area haha.
This is so cute on you! I love that striped dress!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I’ll pair it next time with leggings.
DeleteLove the way you styled these! But I think with this cool bag, you'll look even cooler Stylephotos
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your shoes! And I haven't tried a belt bag but love the way you styled it.:)
