This weekend, I hosted my second Blessed Is She brunch. It's the third gathering in my home this year. First one was during a Lenten gathering.

If I didn’t let go of the notion of a perfectly decorated and clean home, I’d never host a #blessedisshebrunch. My house is by no means the way I want it to look. There’s clutter. There’s lots to clean. Our ceiling in our sunroom has a hole (!) and is still not repaired! But I did have a clean dining room and a yummy egg croissant casserole. There’s flowers (thanks @dianastlouis) and lots more food to share (thanks wonderful ladies who made it today). Thanks @derrick49ers for taking 8 kids to the park so we can have a couple of hours of fellowship.

I signed up for the date right after the first brunch I hosted. I was still feeling the *joy of connecting with like-minded women. I knew if I waited and waited, I would always come up with a reason to not host or cancel the date I have in mind. So I chose a date and went with it.

Did I feel guilty asking my children to leave the house for 2 hours when the date got closer and closer? yes.
Did I want to cancel it when I found out I have extended family visiting? Yes, almost considered it.

But it turned out to be so special. My sister supported me and stayed. She held the baby so I can entertain. She also got the fresh flowers. She was my taste-tester for the raspberry spritzer.

I met two more Catholic women in the Indy area. I connected with ladies in my parish and saw my long-time friend who is now a sister of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.

My dad and husband took my children and nieces and nephew to the park. I asked for two hours but they had so much fun that they stayed for 3 hours out of the house. It's a win-win for both parties.

Why am I sharing all this?
I want to encourage you to open your home. As much as I love social media, I do miss small groups. If you are on the same boat, if you are yearning for  face-to-face interaction and small group, be not afraid. You don't have to wait for the perfect day or perfect home to get people together.

  1. What a lovely outfit, I like the blue accessories with the dress! And it sounds like such a wonderful time with friends, how nice you got to have some adult conversation with the kids at the park!

Hope that your week is going well :)
