dear santa, from my kids

Sharing what my children asked Santa and his elves this year.

Do your children have the same wishlist?
Any ideas where Santa and his elves should look for the best deals?

Ninjago DVD
My eldest has been asking me to stop by the library and borrow these DVDs. Maybe one of Santa's elves will get these for him.. wink wink.

Baby Doll Crib
Isabel is into baby dolls. Elsa, Anna, Disney Princesses, Barbies.. she will talk to them like her babies. She is still too young for American Dolls (plus they are super expensive). She does not take super care of her stuff right now.

Paw Patrol
Do you want to guess who is into Paw Patrol?
Clue: it's not Lucy.

lol

Minecraft Lego
Daniel actually picked the super expensive, super hard Lego Minecraft. It's not really a good idea right now. Because he is only 6. These things have a lot of pieces and will take forever to build! The one above has 327 pieces. the one he chose has 900+.

baby Doll highchair
this is something to add for Isabel's collection.

Team Umizoomi
My little scribbler did not exactly choose this coloring and sticker book. He pointed at this... and this...

Other things on the list that we decided are better left when they are older or when they are doing more chores or in the honor roll... haha. tough parents huh.

our kids are already into so much electronics.... we are holding off as much as we can on this one.
Toys R us sent us a catalog... Daniel place his initials on this one.. really?
Isabel asked for this before but then changed her mind... hmmmm....
Bastian kept pointing to this page on the Toys R us catalog... his sibs kept saying: no Bastian, that's for girls... I have no clue who Peppa pig was until I saw her in one of the patient rooms.

How about you? what is Santa getting the children this year? Are you shopping already? done already? waiting for black friday deals? cyber Monday deals?

i wish... i wish

I was putting together the children's wish list for Santa and his elves and it gave me this idea -- why not make my own wish list?
right?

RIGHT!

Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom.... Because it all started with those last two. And if I please may have something out of this list -- may it be those last two. please, santa... ahem...cough... (mom, dad, sis, aunties, uncles, friends, hubs. if y'all are reading this!)

Starting from Row 1, left to right... let me explain.

Gold Hammered Dome Stud Earrings - I am going back to my GOLD roots. These studs are just so pretty and on sale!

Cardigan - this looks like it will keep me warm way after Christmas. I like the olive burnt  and the navy peacoat  (the photo above shows the burgundy stem... not really liking that!)

Turtleneck sweater dress - another item that looks so warm and comfy... perfect for church... perfect for work.. perfect for date night. i like the beige oatmeal heather (the color above)

Oversize turtleneck sweater - pink lush is so feminine. I want to pair this with jeans.

Criss Cross Ring - how cute is this. if I receive this Santa, I will give you a shout-out here on my blog OOTD post.

Black Faux Fur Ear Muffs - Hats mess up my hair. Maybe I can make the ear muffs work.

Faux Sherpa-Lined Ear muffs - this one is half the price. it's handwash too!

Ski Gloves - I don't ski. But I do need something that will keep my hands warm but won't get wet when playing with the kids outside... this will be perfect for sledding or whenever it's snowing!

Chunky Fair Isles Mittens - I am a mitten girl. If it's cold but not snowing, I wear my mittens.

Melissa and Doug Jacks -  This game is AWESOME! I want to see if i am still the queen of jacks! I can teach Isabel how to play this game.

Melissa and Doug Pick-Up Sticks - I loved playing this as a kid. It will be a fun date night-game night with hubs.

Happy Feast of Christ the King! it's the last Sunday of the liturgical year. Next Sunday is NEW
YEAR'S pretty much!

Can you all believe that I did not have my outfit photos taken for OVER A WEEK? (well that did not stop me from taking selfies.., but that will be another post!)

The crew is still recovering from a viral illness. It started with Isabel then Sebastian, who then gave it to me, hubs and baby Lucy. Daniel had something-somethiing two weeks ago. he could have been the point of entry of the virus to our home. But his symptoms did not fit.

I am excited to go back to some kind of normalcy around here. For the past week, I worked a lot. I did not have my outfit photos taken. we ate a lot of salt-laden food and tons of carbs. we did not work out because we were sick (duh). It would be nice to start fresh this Thanksgiving week.

Speaking of thanksgiving -- please join me and link up your Thanksgiving outfits. Link-up will be live at 6a EST on Thursday. I won't be ready to post my pictures then but the post/link-up will still be live.  I will update the post with our photos later that day. Bonus photo: show us your turkey photos!

Have a good Sunday, friends!
Stay healthy!

starbucks treat

Yay! It's Friday!
I have one more day on service... Then it's party time.
Tonight, we are celebrating Isabel's birthday.
She does not turn 4 for a few more days but it's always around Thanksgiving. We have to work around the holiday so her friends are free.

I will need more than a starbucks treat after a week at the hospital.
Question: Do you prefer black coffee or the fancy drinks?

Mine is the soy vanilla no-foam latte.
I don't drink black coffee. There's always something added to the  coffee even when I make it at home.

SHOP THE LOOK
It's cold now... but you can layer this outfit with a pair of opaque tights and cardi.
That's the fun thing about fall. LAYERS and LAYERS.

new baby + 10 things about my job

Introducing my NEW BABY!!!
I love, love, love this empreinte LV.

Good thing I have these posts all lined up this week because there was NO time for blogging.
I have sick children to take care at work.
I have sick children to take care at home.

Continuing my 100 fave things list

10 favorite things about my job
(appropriately placed here since I am  working "full time" this week aka Monday to Friday)

1.  the KIDS! Even when they are sick and whiny, pediatric patients inspire me and teach me about their resilience and strength. we could all learn from them.

2. opportunity to work with amazing and intelligent people. I am surrounded by geniuses, innovators and super-smart diagnosticians. I cannot slack off when I am around these folks.

3. the pathology I see at the hospital and in clinic. It still surprises me how much I learn every time I step in the hospital or take care of bread and butter clinic patients.  That's just medicine in general. It's a never-ending education.

4. part-timer - I am grateful I can split time at work and at home. Hats off to working moms who are FT moms and FT physicians. I did it before. I worked 80 hour workweeks as a mom of three. I did not know how I survived it.  I was just in survival mode.

5. parents trust me to take care of their children. That's an honor.

6. student doctors - I enjoy working with and mentoring medical students. I was fortunate to meet mentors during my forming years (aka medical school) and I like to pay it forward.

7. academic center - this goes with #2. Besides the physicians in my department, i get to collaborate and interact with other specialties since I work at the academic center. Again, being surrounded by these intelligent doctors push me to read more and learn more.

8. flexibility -  I have a say on my schedule, when I start and when I end my clinic days. This is important for me not just for this particular job/group but also career choice. Work and life balance is important.   At the hospital, it's a little more complicated. Patients have to be seen everyday. I had to come in and cover holidays before. That's not a big deal since holiday coverage is split evenly (at least in our department).

9. my coworkers - shout out to my clinic folks. You all make clinic a happy place. Another clinic calls our clinic  "place with lollipops and rainbows."  I look forward to working a full clinic because of the people who help me out and the patients.

10. reimbursement - I love it that I am getting paid. who does not want to get paid right?
