recommended by friends and other quick takes

1. Thank you Laura for the recommendation. My canvases came and I LOVE how they turned out. I ordered 11 x 14 prints of the older 4 and another one of hubs and me from our 10 year anniv photos. Easy Canvas Prints is having a major sale right now.  With eBates, you can get 1.5% cashback.

I love the products so much that I ordered scripture printables  and all saints printable and had them printed on 8 x 10 canvases.

2. I don't want to keep watching BONES. why? Because I am down to the last 2 episodes of the series. I always feel like this specially when reading a good book. When I am at the very last chapter, I dread reading the last page because then I know I am done with the book... I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way when reading or enjoying a good book or TV series. Who's with me?

The second reading is my most favorite Scripture.  I was very honored to read it at one of my best friend's wedding in 2014.

the dramatic prophet and her children

We heard about the prophet Elijah in the first reading at Mass. The priest talked about how dramatic he is.

He prayed for death saying:

“This is enough, O LORD!

Take my life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

How about when he "showed off" the LORD's power against the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18? Talk about outshining everybody!

--------------------------------------------
At the time for offering sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came forward and said, “LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

Answer me, LORD! Answer me, that this people may know that you, LORD, are God and that you have turned their hearts back to you.”

The LORD’s fire came down and devoured the burnt offering, wood, stones, and dust, and lapped up the water in the trench.
---------------------------------------------

As I reflected on the readings, I thought that if I am prophet, I will be totally like Elijah. So much flair, so much drama. This is enough, O LORD. Take my life.... Answer me, LORD, answer me......

Specially when I was young and immature (some will say i still am), I was on the extremes. Too much drama when happy. Too much drama when sad and weepy. I am glad in some ways, I have toned down quite a bit. There's still flair and drama when I dress up though. Just like accessorizing or posting OOTDs. Emotion-wise, I have a better handle with my attitude and drama.

But one thing to remember is that Elijah did the flair for the LORD. He prayed that the LORD will outshine those false prophets.

Hopefully all this flair I have, I can use to raise these children in the right path. They joined me today and the photo shoot was a lot of fun, as evident with the pictures below. This post is a photodump. I just like them all and cannot choose 1 or 2.

Also, today is Daniel's Baptism Anniversary. After dinner tonight, we will light his baptism candle and celebrate his second birthday. That's how I ended up explaining it to him. An important day when he formally became a child of God  and original sin is washed away. How about you? How do you explain baptism anniv's to your children? Do you celebrate them?

The post looks semi-good when I choose the right poses. But the BEST poses are ones showing REAL LIFE with my bunch. Like the ones below.

where do you think she got her flair?

^^perfect timing, D.

Now the walking photos. You gotta have the walking photos.

These photos are cute. Daniel took them.

And to finish this post, how about kissy photos???

Finally, we got it right.
Hope you are having a restful Sunday. I am off to a movie date with hubs.... and Lucy!

floral + Balenciaga + thoughts about this week's Gospel {wiws}

Anthropologie top, thrifted // Banana Republic skirt, via ThredUp // Naturalizer lennox pumps // Balenciaga Pompon satchel // Michael Kors bradshaw watch

^^Hubs like taking close up photos specially when I walk up to him after our photo shoots. Just when I check his work. This one turned out "great" he said so it made it on the blog. the other shots from previous fashion posts were just plain hilarious.

Balenciaga Pompon satchel #usedisthenewnew

I tried to sell this floral skirt on eBay. it's 100% silk and nobody wanted it! Well, their loss is my gain. since I cannot fit in my regular clothes yet, I was able to wear this although it's still snug.

The naturalizer pumps made the photoshoot but not Vigil Mass. My big size 8 feet cannot fit to my 7.5 pumps... (Question to my mom readers: When you were postpartum, how long did it take for your feet to go back to their regular size? Did they ever go back to their previous size?)

For this week's Mass Grades, I asked hubs to grade the children.
Daniel - B+
Isabel - A-
Sebastian - B
Lucy - amazing, A+++++. she slept the entire time and did not have to nurse.

This was the first time the 6 of us went to Mass together. we sat at the back instead of our usual pew #5. Derrick served as an usher too. Let's just say it was quite interesting. Good thing Lucy was amazingly quiet.

When I travel, I tend to overpack. Imagine if Jesus says: ok go on your trip. Bring a walking stick but that's it. No extra flipflops or cardigan or extra food or extra tops. No ipad, iphone or DVD player. But you can take your husband.

We are still in the adjustment phase with our new brood. We now have 4 hatchlings. We DO NOT know what we are doing. Maybe Derrick does... But I sure do not have any pattern or rhythm or "I got it down" moment yet.

And it's not just about rearing young children that the Gospel got to me -- but also with my life and faith. God asks me today (everyday) to trust in him. Take what is NEEDED -- the bare minimum and leave the rest to him. He will  provide what I truly need, crave and require to be a caring and patient mom.... a loving wife... a saint.

Just like the Twelve, if I follow Him, I will be able to perform what he asks of me... like drive away demons or more like, change diapers, make dinner, read Scripture diligently.

Have a good restful Sunday, friends.

Exaltation of the Cross {wiws}

It's a beautiful day at church. My favorite Scripture passage was the second reading. The entire Gospel story is summarized in those 5 passages. I always get goosebumps reading/hearing those verses.  I will read the same verses at my friend's wedding in less than a month.

I went to Mass yesterday with the family... and then again tonight as I played two songs during Communion. At this stage of my mommyhood, I cannot bring the children to church if I am accompanying the cantors. I would not do that to my husband ~ leave him corralling all three children while they freak out to go to mommy who is playing the piano... I can see it already.

When I chose this day randomly (yes randomly) to finally play in public, I did not know
1. it's a special feastday
2. my favorite Scripture is the second reading

I chalk it up as the doing of the Holy Spirit. It's all HS.

If you have time during this week, before the next bulletin is posted, please read my pastor's Sunday message. For my nonCatholic readers, the reason behind the Sign of the Cross is explained.
