our Lady in a rose garden

Letter for Rose Mary Ann~

Happy due date, Rose.
I chose this artwork because of you. That's Our Lady with baby Jesus in a rose garden. The painting is created by a French artist named Simon Saint-Jean in the mid-1800s. My favorite color is pink and the roses here have different shades of pink.

For now, this artwork will be in mummy and daddy's room. When you get older, if you'd like you can bring it to your home.

Love,
Mummy

Thank you Photowall for sponsoring this post.

la basilique du sacre coeur ~ a place to remember

Eleven years ago, my sweetheart took me to Paris. It was my first time in France. We both fell in love with the city and food and all the marvelous architecture. We headed to Montmarte and climbed the steps to the Basilique du Sacre Coeur. We heard Mass in French. We had no clue what the homily was about. However, the beauty of the Mass is that no matter what language, we can follow and respond, even though our responses were in English.

The basilica is so beautiful. It would forever hold a special place in my heart. We had Notre Dame in our honeymoon bucket list ~ but Sacre Coeur exceeded our expectations. We timed it very well that we were able to attend Mass there.

cute finds from the JCPenney Carter's Baby Sale

//affiliate links are used//

As an infant, my family dressed me in all whites. My grandma preferred that before we turned one year old, that we wore white. You should have seen her face when I showed her my babies in brown, orange, and dark blue clothing!

As a mom of five, I finally saw the "white appeal." It's just so fresh-looking and cute.  I'm still not dressing my children in all white all day everyday. Hence I love dressing my babies in neutrals and light colored clothing... with white onesies of cute prints

I enjoy shopping for my babies. For my girls, there are many colorful and affordable styles that won't break the bank. With my sons, light color of blues and grays are my go-to colors. I can get away with whites and creams when they are very young  - no solids yet!

I'm so thrilled to partner with JCPenney and ShopStyle and shop their Carter's September baby sale! I found light blue and gray favorites for Lucas. I picked up "wear now" items for such affordable prices. Carter's knits are so, so soft. When I shop Carter's at JCPenney, I know I will be getting quality clothing for an awesome deal!

I finally turned on my laptop since I blogged my last post on Memorial Day.  I have over 5 outfit posts on my camera that I downloaded today.

Below is a list of my excuses:
-- If I am not holding my one-month old, I am carrying my 2 year old.
-- I am also either napping or reading.
-- It is taking me a long time to paint my closet system. {pounding head against wall} Prime painting time is 10p-11p, when I have finally parted from my good nurser.  Hubs can watch him if he wakes up after cluster feeding.
-- Feed older kids, clean up, feed them again, clean up, feed them again. Daddy's home!

That's pretty much life now-a-days. It's definitely not the norm when I get to dress up, put on nice shoes and take photos.

Day trip to Baguio {a giveaway!}

 The travel photo diary continues.

We went to a 3 day car trip to northern Luzon. My hometown is in the big island Luzon. The northernmost part of Luzon I have ever been was Vigan City (post to come). On our way back down, we stopped by Baguio City.

Baguio City is called the summer capital of the Philippines. It's a city on a plateau (up in the mountains). Temps dipped down to the high 50s low 60s. That feels good in the Philippines.

we went shopping for treats, veggies and fruit. We also stopped by Burnham Park. It was very crowded because it was a Sunday. Baguio city, I heard, is pretty crowded now no matter what day. But weekends are the worst... and unfortunately, not as clean as I remember.

 ^look at all the veggies!

Glad we stopped by the scenic lookout.
That's the Baguio City I remember as I child. The view, the mountains, all so green and clean.

Reason for going out of order on my travel diary is this GIVEAWAY!!!
I thank my friend and colleague, Noelle for sponsoring this giveaway. She is giving away a Carly dress (one I am wearing above). I chose this dress because it's comfy during pregnancy. Perk -- it is nonmaternity! So I can still wear it postpartum.

Enter the rafflecopter below.You have until midnight March 16th to enter. Spread the word.  I hope you win.

Valentine's day weekend

Vintage Chanel

Valentines Day weekend recap

The older children were *supposed to stay with their grandparents Friday night but they changed their minds. So Friday date night was a family date night.

The highlight of the weekend was the Valentine's Day dance at the children's school. Daniel took me and Isabel took daddy.

The predance date was at Qdoba. That's what happens when we let the 6 year old and the 4 year old decide where to go. (It could have been worse. It could have been McDonald's! yikes)

I was hoping we'd go to the other Mexican place because of the margarita. Boohoo, no predance margarita for this mama.
Probably a good thing, eh?

fashion ring and bracelet
gift from auntie Feli.

It took an hour for my children to warm up and dance. They just sat there and watched the other students. They wanted to play checkers instead of dance.

They didn't get their daddy and mummy's genes. Derrick and I just dance though the only ones on the dance floor.

15 minutes before the end of the school dance, they finally went out and danced with us. It was so cute. And worth dressing up for that!

necklace, from FrenchLick

Sunday was Scout Sunday so it was busy in the morning but finally slowed down after lunch. Our usual after Mass lunch is closed. The owners are on their annual trip to Asia. Since I was craving steak (not that often I crave steak) I asked if we can all go to a steakhouse. The children actually ate their steak meal from the kids' menu. They also got little trinkets from the server.

Bastian's toy only lasted the meal and didn't even make it home. It already broke and drained water. Isabel got a sticky heart. Daniel received an Avengers light up sticker.

Ms. Lucy got a key pull charm. The highlight of her lunch is not charm but the mashed potatoes! It was loaded with butter. She loved it.

She is a good eater like her kuya Bastian! I didn't bring her her baby food. I thought she'd just nap. So we let her try the mashed potatoes. {4th child... I'd never do that with Daniel}

Thanks to newchic for sponsoring this post... and letting me choose the perfect skirt for the most fun school dance. I grew up in the Philippines and went to a conservative Catholic high school. Our prom was actually "cancelled" so I never really went to a real school dance.

I think going with my eldest is the most fun.

I don't think I missed much.

I am making up for it now.

Just in case you missed the video link above, I am posting it here again (hint, hint for my mom or grandma who might have missed it)
