A day of photos

I better document this day. It's my last day of leave. It's going to be another big change in the D-crew household. Just when I am getting comfortable changing diapers, eating a semi-heated up meal and staying at home, I have to go back to work full time.

I embraced this maternity leave. This third time around felt similar to my first maternity leave. Mostly, because Sebastian is an awesome baby, very similar to Daniel's temperament. I cooked and cooked. I started working out as soon as I'm cleared -- so that helped my spirits. I braved running errands with 2-3 kids in tow. I can do this!

People think I am Wonder Woman. I am not.

I put this game face on because I know it will be hard these next few months. But I'm also an optimist. I've got great things to look forward to! Ever since I started residency and even medical school, I knew deep in my heart I wanted to work part time. I could not have it all ~~ work full time and feel that I'm doing a decent job as a wife, mother and physician. I trust my husband and family and believe them when they say that my vocation is not just at home, but to also minister to other children.

Our day in photos:
Isabel was as excited as I was for our Starbucks treat. She patiently sat next to me while I nursed Bastian one more time do before leaving the house.

As usual she gave me her most amazing poses when I asked her to stand next to the fence.

Isabel enjoyed seeing the big trucks pass by. She ate a good portion of her cheese Danish and kept saying "mummy coffee, mummy coffee".

Our next stop is the watch repair shop. I didn't have the tools to fix the buckle on my white swatch.

^^here we are braving the autumn chill^^

I received the buckle from swatch for free. I was ready to pay the gentlemen an outrageously expensive fee for fixing the buckle which only took him 2 seconds to attach to the watch strap. {it took him longer to walk back to his desk and grab a kitkat for Isabel after asking me first if it's ok to give her candy**}

After asking him how much, he said: this time free, next time I charge you.
I was surprised!
I thanked him. I told Isabel: what a nice man, giving us chocolate and fixing mummy's watch for free! And then we bid him good bye.

We stopped by the drive through at Panera for bagels for the week. I like einsteins brothers bagel better but they don't have a drive thru. It's hard to get the kids in and out the store.... So I chose Panera.

Our next stop: library.
Just in case you're wondering, Mr. Sebastian is knocked out after feeding and still asleep on our elevator ride to the library.

And look at these life size poster boards of Andrew Luck and Dwayne Allen.

Isabel again, willingly and obligingly posed next to these guys so I can take a picture.

Lunch and naps after our library trip. Then a visit to a friend's house to show off Sebastian.

We were a little late for school pickup ~~ just 10 minutes late.
But my lil d is always in good spirits!

I love having all three in my big truck. Look at them as we pulled in our driveway.

It's such a beautiful day and I let them play outside....

^^they said: they're cleaning the driveway.^^

Then comes dinner. Gladly, they made it easy for me as Derrick was off for jury duty. I was hoping it won't be the same as his previous service which lasted until 11p for deliberation. Can I handle these kids all night??? I was prepared to do it.

Here's Isabel reading with her Ronald McDonald looking boots. They're a big size 7 but she loved them. She wore them because they're new.

How about my serious Sebastian? He has been smiling. It gives me joy when coos back.

I'm back at work for 4 days.
It's been hard.
But I've got something to look forward to. I can't describe the feeling, when kids scream mommy when they see me! They are just so happy. They give me hugs. And all the worries of the world go away.

**btw I didn't give Isabel the kitkat. It's way too early in the am for treats. I left it in the car and she forgot about it already.

Dcrew at the big D

D-crew minus lil D visited Dallas, Texas for a mini vacation.

Let me tell you our day in the form of selfies and outfits.

Day 1: Downtown, Arts district and Cathedral
After a quick nap at the hotel, we headed out to sightsee before Sunday Mass. We chose to visit the cathedral shrine of the virgin of Guadalupe. We went to the praise and worship 5:30p Mass. Isabel enjoyed the upbeat music. She was dancing for Jesus!

^^The tabernacle is so beautiful^^

^^what's up with this big eye in downtown Dallas? Does anybody know?^^
Isabel's outfit:
Track jacket: auntie Feli's gift, from zulily

^^this is how I look like post nap!^^
Outfit deets:
Chambray: old navy, similar
Super skinny jeggings: I bought two sizes up so they are pretty much skinny jeans instead of super skinny.
Booties: Mia

Day 2: outfits
Meet the big mirror and the hallway outside our hotel room. Brace yourself for selfies.

^^what I wore for my first full day in Dallas.^^

Day 3 outfits

After my second full day at the big D: I changed to my dress from target, also seen here.

Dinner for day 3 was at a Thai place in Addison. Omg. The pad Thai received 5-stars from hubs and I enjoyed my panang curry. The Tom yum soup was also delicious.

For dessert, we had boba.

YouTube Video

^^isabel obviously enjoyed her mango strawberry smoothie with boba^^

Day 4: food
We left dark and early on day 4. I was so ready for a hot meal. I asked for my favorite meal of the day: breakfast though it's 12:30p est. good thing, my favorite brunch place serves breakfast entrees all day!

Here's what hubs got.

He didn't get breakfast. He's a lunch and dinner guy.
The mushroom asiago tomato sauce was superb! I had a bite... He didn't mind sharing.

For our travel experience, check here.

Saints and meals 11.04.13

It's my first day back at work. Prayers needed please...

This third time is still hard. I just don't want to be separated from my baby boy! But it also helps that the third time around, I'm leaving my baby with my FIL instead of day care.

It's going to be a challenge (it always is!) when I plan our menu when I'm working 40-50 hours a week. Thank goodness when I'm on call, I'm not at the hospital anymore so that helps. No more 80 hour work weeks. I can answer my beeper while preparing dinner.

This was my menu plan Friday night. Before Sebastian's baptism luncheon. Before my mil brought two pans of chicken adobo and my mom brought three dozens chicken wings. (Filipinos are known to make more than planned for parties)

Monday: last day as a sahm

St. Charles Borromeo, Patron Saint of Catechists, Catechumens, Seminarians
Meal: Linguine with shrimp and tomato cream sauce

Tuesday: Slow cooker roast - my own recipe**

Wednesday: After hours soup, Sandra lee slow cooker semi homemade meal cookbook

Thursday:
St. Didacus
San Diego, California, is named for this Franciscan, who was canonized in 1588.
Meal: Slow cooker honey sesame chicken, handle the heat

Friday:
Blessed John Duns Scotus
A humble man, John Duns Scotus has been one of the most influential Franciscans through the centuries... Drawing on the work of John Duns Scotus, Pope Pius IX solemnly defined the Immaculate Conception of Mary in 1854.
Meal: Veggie pizza paleo recipe, in Italian bread
Depending on the amount of leftovers, we might just skip making this pizza.

Saturday:
Dedication of saint john lateran
Most Catholics think of St. Peter’s as the pope’s main church, but they are wrong. St. John Lateran is the pope’s church, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome where the Bishop of Rome presides.

Meal: leftovers, Taiwan tea house for dinner

So I am skipping the shrimp linguine and slow cooker honey sesame chicken. The rest I have to make because I already have the perishables. The meat for the pot roast and Italian sausage are already in my fridge. Frozen shrimpies and frozen chicken thighs can wait till next week.

Happy back to work.
To me.

    Christening of Sebastian James

It takes a village to get the kids ready to Mass. Thanks to my in-laws who came early so they dressed up the older two while I finished getting ready. We could not find Daniel's tie. Isabel did not like the leggings I laid out. Sebastian, on the other hand, was easy-peasy.

The baptism was so beautiful. There were 2 other beautiful baby girls who were baptized today with Sebastian. Their Saints name are Sts. Faustina and Seraphina.

     ^^With our pastor and Bastian's godparents^^

^^with lolo and lola, kuya Daniel and ate Isabel^^

Mom brought chicken wings, vege saute and chicken noodle soup. My MIL brought chicken adobo and pancit. Auntie J brought fried rice!
