My kids, my husband and working out {7qt}

Happy Friday!
Joining Jen at conversion diary for 7 quick takes.

1. Field trip ~~ to the pumpkin patch
My TK rode the school bus for the first time for field trip to the pumpkin patch. His smile was from ear to ear.
Be forewarned, there'll be Instagram overload of the patch and preschoolers! Maybe even a post!

^^haha, find my shadow! And I'll give you virtual 5 points!^^

2. Mummy chauffeur
I'm in charge of school pickup all week long. I've been spoiled by my father in law. when he is available, he will pick up Daniel. I didn't know what to expect but I made it with two kids in the car, out of the house on time, to pick up my eldest.... I guess, you do what to gotta do. You learn in the process.
I'm a mummy chauffeur in training.

^^very blurry Pict of my three kids in the truck^^

3. Oh sweet autumn.
You are finally here. I got to wear my Minnetonka for the first time this season. Though it's just for a quick run to the pharmacy and then school pick up. Total time I wore those fringe ankle boots: uhm, maybe 30 mins max. Plus/minus a few seconds.

4. Sweet celebration
It was a sweet celebration last Monday for our wedding anniversary. After being home all day with the kids, I get to clean up, dress up and wear my new studded wedges!

Mussels, frites and wine ~~~ that's what I chose when hubs asked what I want to eat for our anniversary dinner.
I don't have any pix of my delicious food. Cos I got such great company!
I took a pict of my Riesling when my date was washing his hands.

5. Postpartum workout
Maybe if I post my plan here for the whole world to see then I'll be held accountable?
So far here's my regimen:
Barre3
Walks 1.5-3 miles each time

Once I'm cleared at my 6-week appt, I wanna go back to:
Jillian Michael's ripped in 30 DVD
Maybe some Zumba
More Barre3 ~ I signed up for one month of online workouts
Insanity??? I don't know when yet. maybe once I'm stronger, I'll tackle it.

For now... I'm happy with walks with my kiddos. I get fresh air and I get out of the house! And I'm very happy with barre3.

6. Sebastian is growing:
At his one month well child check, he is:
9 Lbs 3 oz
21 Inches

^^ATNR the fencing posture or reflex...^^

7.picture(s) I'm sharing:
Yep, she's sleeping.

I don't know how that's comfortable.

Resources for student doctors and resident doctors {five faves}

Here are a few resources that helped me as a med student and as a resident.

1. Epocrates app

I used this a lot as a med student. It's a quick reference for drugs, dosing, adverse reactions and labs to monitor.

2. Lexicomp

Our institution has a subscription to this online resource. Instead of using epocrates, I use this database to search for drugs, dosing, dosage forms, side effects etc same as above.

3. Maxwell pocket reference

A must have for any third year medical student, sub-intern and intern.
It has templates for daily notes, admission orders, operative notes, transfer orders and comprehensive neurological examination!
There's also a section of lab values for common lab tests. I love my maxwell.

4. Uptodate

Again, another online resource that our hospital signed up for. It's a quick reference that is peer reviewed with background, epidemiology, diagnostics, clinical findings, management of diseases.
Uptodate was my friend all those on call nights at the hospital.

5. Gene reviews

We see a lot of genetic syndromes in neurology. We are finding more and more genes responsible for neurological diseases. I like gene reviews for a quick rundown of neurological problems, genetic problems etc. Just use google and you'll find the articles online.
These are just five easy to find resources. Books are always a good resource. But I don't carry my 1000page Aicardi or Merritt's neurology to work. Especially NOT on call! That's like jinxing myself. Med students, beware. If you bring a book to read when on-call, be forewarned that it will surely be a BUSY night!
I bring articles to read in my call and work bag. Articles are easier to transport rather than textbooks. Some textbooks can be accessed online now as well.

Happy Wednesday y'all!

    Weekly menu 10.06.13

Big week coming up! I'm back to sporting my blue to watch the colts play. And best of all ~~ it's our 7th wedding anniversary tomorrow.

    My menu plan:
Sunday: we have tons of left overs. I made a lot of food last week.

    Monday: anniversary!!!
    Dinner out for D-Isis.

For the kids and babysitter {thanks mom!} I'm making Chicken tikka masala.

    Tuesday: Orange peel shrimp

    Wednesday: Beef caldereta

Thursday: dinner from our church's mom group! Thanks Mrs. R! Our moms group give meals to families with new babies. Such a cool ministry. I volunteered so I can pay back the kindness to other moms and families.

Friday: Beef in oyster sauce, From my Quick and easy Chinese food cookbook that I highly recommend. Such easy to follow recipes and they're all tasty.

Saturday: Filipino pork barbecue . Per my grandma's recipe, I add sprite or Mountain Dew for the sugar!!!

And just cause, here's a pict of the stadium. Colts won!

    Blue polka dot dress and studded oxblood red suede wedges {wiws, Sunday style}

Oxblood red? Not really a very enticing name for a pretty shade of red.... Just the name gives me the creeps. Yet, I use it here to describe my new fave wedges.
Wedges are so forgiving. They give me height. Instead of heels, these are more comfortable for a whole day in clinic.

Oxblood red is an "in" color for autumn. You'll see it in purses, lipstick and shoes.

I really, really {to the infinity} wanted to wear my wedges tonight. But the weather was not cooperative. if you want to see them, scroll down to the bottom to see a preview. Hopefully next week, I can wear them for Mass.

    ^^i look like I'm 15 here, hmmmm...^

    My outfit:
Dress ~ target | skinny belt ~ old navy | hunter rain boots {bday present from the hubs!} I was at target with the baby and found this dress! Gotta have it because it's colts blue.

^^yup, selfie @ the bulls eye fitting room^^

And the rest of the family for Mass.

    Mass behaviors.
    Daniel ~ B
    Isabel ~ B
    Sebastian ~ A for awesome!
Isabel is wearing a tutu dress from zulily. her fave boots from target. Whilst Daniel is sporting a US polo assn shirt with target shorts and his stride rite spidey shoes.

We celebrated Bastian's first month birthday. Another reason to celebrate life and eat sushi! It's also my FIL's birthday and St. Francis' feastday, one of my daughter's name saint.

    ^^just adorable!^^

    ^^im amazed with his cuteness^^

^^See, wearing my suede oxblood wedges.^^

Happy 27th Sunday of ordinary time and Respect for Life Sunday. The second reading is so appropriate right now ~~ with the govt shutdown, lay offs at work, my job situation.
So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God - 2 Timothy 1:8
