discover conner prairie {seven must see and do}

We visited Conner Prairie for the first time! Conner Prairie is a living history museum with outdoor experiences and also  a hands-on indoor STEM-based area.
Below, I am highlighting seven must-see and do for first-time visitors.

1. Do you want to see 1836 Indiana?
Follow the path and enter Prairietown. You can meet the residents, blacksmith, merchants and ask them all about  their daily lives in 1836.  We went inside the one-room school house and the store. I found out that sauchong tea smells worse than gunpowder tea (eeekk!)

^The children are ready for school!

2. Animal encounters
This is a real working farm. My children got to pet and feed the animals there. The barn is open to guests from April to October.

3. Civil war journey 1863
We crossed the covered bridge and the Ohio River and entered southern Indiana.
It was the year 1863 and we met the local residents of Dupont, Indiana. They told us what happened right after the raid.

4.William Conner House
The house which is nearly 200 years old was recently renovated.  You can go inside and check out cool artifacts and several rooms.

5. Treetop outpost
This is a four-story tree house with lots to explore inside. You can play instruments, build a fort, dig in the sandbox.

6. Balloon voyage
This was the family-favorite. The view is amazing all the way up to 377 feet! We saw all the way to downtown Indianapolis which was 16 miles away. Sunset flights are on select Thursdays up to 10pm during the summer, weather-permitting.

7. Symphony on the prairie
From June to September, there's a diverse line-up of concerts for everybody.
This is a separate attraction to the museum.  To end our visit to Conner Prairie, we enjoyed the music of ABBA  while sitting on our lawn chairs and blankets. My children danced until 10pm! I saved highlights of our trip to Conner Prairie on my instagram profile and you can watch my children dance the evening away.

There's lots more to see and do at Conner Prairie (we just did not get  a chance to see them all!) The Lenape Indian camp, Makesmith workshop, Loom house  are all places still on our list.

Be sure to head onto my instagram page and enter the giveaway  on this photo to win a family 4-pack general admission to the museum and tickets to the balloon voyage. Giveaway is open 8/21  until 8/24 7a EST. Two winners will be chosen and announced 8/24.

Thank you Conner Prairie for sponsoring this amazing visit!
