Dear Daniel, Isabel, Bastian and Lucy,
We went to Barranco. It was a 5 minute taxi ride from Miraflores where we are staying.

We visited the church of the Holy Cross, enjoyed the cool breeze at the Parque municipal, crossed the bridge of sighs, and stopped by the old church La Ermita.

People are not allowed to go inside La Ermita because the roof is falling. The big earthquake of 1940 severely damaged the church.

Love,
M, D and Lucas

Above was the email I sent to the children. I sent a few photos daily and a little blurb for the day. It was Isabel's reading practice for the day (on top of homework!)

I did not take a picture at the bridge of sighs (it was so hot that day!) but you can see it here. We only made it 2-3blocks from parque municipal.  We saw the houses on the cliffs. We cooled off and had gelato next to the park. We also had a late lunch of ceviche and arroz con mariscos where Derrick had his first taste of Inca Cola.
