If I am not a doctor...
I will be a mom of 8.
For real...

I love reading about Lindsay and her family. I wish I have as many babies. I just love babies.
I get so encouraged that working moms like Colleen are open to life.
Let's not forget Jennifer, celebrity, radio talk show host, super-blogger extraordinaire! She's smart. She's amazing.

I have always wanted a big family. But now that, hubs and I are past the average of 2 kids (I could not find the new stats... is that still the average number???)  we definitely get the looks and comments:

you've got your hands full.
you know how that happens, right?
are you guys done?
boy, girl, boy, girl -- that's perfect. that's it, right?

a coworker to my husband: you know what to do right, snip. snip?

Good thing I was not there when somebody said that to him or I would have answered: No, we are not going to do that. why break something that is working?

But reality is reality. I am a doctor.
Besides giving the task of taking care of  these little souls, hubs astutely pointed out that I am blessed to help other children. Not everybody makes the commitment and/or given the talent and/or get accepted to go to medical school.

So yes, I am blessed to work in medicine.

Since we make it a priority for me to also succeed at work and be "good" at what I do,  I have to be realistic. I cannot have 8 children and still be able to catch up with my continuing medical education. I so wish i can!

There's only 24 hours in the day and after being apart with my babies, I want to cook for them. I want to help them with their homework. But when do I get to do *my homework?  That's the struggle. I am still looking for that balance.

Props to my dear husband ~ who reminds me to read and keep up with medicine; who helps out A LOT with the children when I have to work on a presentation, who has accepted his role as husband of an MD/mom wishing to have 8 children.

xoxo Mr. D!

  1. I never thought I could work full time and have 7 kids!! In fact, 6 out of 7 were conceived when we were trying to postpone the next baby!! So never say never, the grace is only given when it's needed, and not before. I think it would be so cool to have a doctor with 8 kids :)
